L'OR Espresso and the Art of Fashion

Where Craft, Taste and Self-Expression Meet

At the 2nd Annual South Africa Fashion Awards, L'OR Espresso did more than sponsor the night. It became part of the experience — and showed why a premium coffee brand belongs in the world of fashion.

The Shared Belief

Every great look begins with a decision about detail

E

Every great look begins with a decision about detail. The fabric. The cut. The finish. The moment it is worn. Great coffee begins in exactly the same place.

That shared belief brought L'OR Espresso, the premium coffee brand, to the 2nd Annual South Africa Fashion Awards (SAFA), held on Saturday, 3 October 2026, at the Infinity Theatre, Hotel Sky Sandton, and broadcast live on Channel ONE Africa. As an official sponsor, L'OR welcomed guests with a curated coffee experience and took a seat at the table in the conversation about the future of South African fashion.

It was a natural fit. Fashion and coffee are both worlds of taste. Both are shaped by craftsmanship. Both reward the people who notice the details. And both have become everyday ways for us to say something about who we are.

"

Fashion is about expression, creativity and craft, which makes it a natural space for L'OR Espresso. We want to add something memorable to the occasion and give guests a premium L'OR experience that feels completely at home in the world of fashion.

The Experience

Not a logo on a wall, but a moment in the evening

Plenty of brands put their name on an event. Far fewer become part of how people remember it.

At SAFA, L'OR chose the second route. As designers, models, stylists, media and industry leaders arrived for the evening, they were met with L'OR's blends, served with the same care and presentation that the evening's nominees bring to their work. Guests did not simply see the brand. They tasted it, talked about it and carried it into the ceremony with them.

The response spoke for itself. Feedback from guests on the L'OR sampling experience was overwhelmingly positive, and the coffee became one of the small, memorable touches of a night built on detail.

That is where premium brands earn their place today: not in the space they buy, but in the experience they create.

A voice in the conversation

L'OR's role went beyond the coffee bar. Mbulelo Mashilo joined SAFA's industry panel on stage, alongside leaders from Mentos South Africa, TFG and Proudly South African, to discuss where South African fashion goes next and how brands can help local talent reach the world.

It was a clear signal of intent. L'OR is not visiting fashion as an outsider. It is investing in the culture around it, and in the creative economy that fashion supports.

The Philosophy

Craft, in every sense of the word

The most memorable fashion is never only about the garment. It is about the thinking behind it: the material chosen, the construction, the proportion, the finishing. Choices that may never be seen on their own, but together create something that feels considered.

Coffee is made the same way. Long before it reaches the cup, a blend is shaped by origin, roast, aroma, intensity and extraction. L'OR even calls its specialists “Coffee Artists”, a choice of words that puts creativity at the centre of everything the brand does.

One is worn and the other is tasted. The philosophy is the same: craft turns a product into an experience.

The Common Thread

Taste is the common thread

In coffee, taste is literal: flavour, body, aroma and character. In fashion, taste is visual and personal: colour, silhouette, styling and the choices that make a look unmistakably someone's own.

In both worlds, taste is really about discernment. It is the ability to recognise quality, appreciate nuance and understand why certain details lift an experience above the ordinary.

This is the territory L'OR has made its own around the world, aligning itself with premium environments where craftsmanship, passion and design carry cultural meaning, from its partnership with Ferrari to the runway. The lesson is consistent. L'OR does not need to become something else to enter these worlds. It finds the values it already shares with them.

The Verdict

From coffee to culture

The strongest premium brands understand that relevance is not created by appearing in the right room. It is created by belonging there.

At the South Africa Fashion Awards, L'OR Espresso belonged. It celebrated the people who make South African fashion what it is, gave guests an experience worth remembering, and showed that the pursuit of excellence looks the same whether it is stitched, styled or brewed.

As the industry looks ahead to 2027, one thing is clear: wherever South African fashion is celebrated, L'OR Espresso has earned its place at the table.
